Interview and a Giveaway!

Check out the new blog for an interview with Gloria Furman and an awesome giveaway!

One of my go-to blogs is called Domestic Kingdom. My friend Stephanie has loved it for a while, so I thought I would check it out. I am so glad I did!  It is such a breath of fresh air. Domestic Kingdom is a theologically rich, Christ-centered, gospel filled blog, edited by Gloria Furman. While she is the main writer, there are several other ladies who write for DK from all over the world. Each article is filled with a challenge to cling to Christ’s work in the normal and mundane of our every day lives.  Since I love the blog so much, I was excited to see that Gloria was writing a book! Glimpses of Grace: Treasuring the Gospel in Your Home just came out yesterday! I was ready to start reading when to get my advanced copy in the mail (yeah, I am a dork and totally ordered it early!). When she agreed to let me interview her, I could hardly narrow down the questions I wanted to ask!!! But alas, (yep, I said alas) I did. So without further adieu, here is the interview! And don’t forget to read through to the end for a giveaway!

On Building Biblical Community

Just a reminder.....I moved my blog! So, if you want to read this you will have to move with me!  But just for being so great, here is a sample:

In the last few years, I have been blessed to experience a taste of real biblical community with a small group of women. The other day, I was talking to one of them about biblical community and what that looks like. I began thinking about how few women ever get to really experience it.  While I am sure there are tons of reasons why that is, I think that there are two types of extremes that most women face at some point, when trying to build community with other believing women.

The “Have it all together” Crew

These kinds of relationships can make you feel like being the real you isn’t allowed. There are unspoken (or sometimes spoken) expectations about behavior and appearance.

....... If you want to keep reading, you are going to have to go to my new blog!! Here it is!

I am peacing out......

So I have a new blog, and I am leaving this one behind!  The new blog is going to be just like this one, only it is a self hosted Wordpress site instead of a Blogger site. For most of you that means very little, so here is what you do need to know:

My new site is This Life I Live
  • If you follow this blog via email, you will have to subscribe again by clicking the link above and re-registering! The box is on the right menu! This way, all new posts will be emailed directly to you!

  • If you subscribe through an RSS feed, you can add the new blog to your feed by clicking below.

I will keep this blog site up for a while, with something redirecting you to my new one, but won't be posting anymore over here. So make the switch if you want to keep up with us and our move across the world!!! Hope you like the new look! I will be back sometime this week with some actual posts!

More and Some Weekend Reading

As God has been dealing with some pretty deep seeded issues in my heart, I am struck by how many of them stem from me wanting more. Not only that, I spend most of my time wanting what I want, not what he does. I want more out of how I look, more recognition, more intellect, more out of my husband, more out of my children, more out of my friends (or sometimes complete strangers), more out of God. But, as his child I have all that I need, and so much more! I am completely loved, 100% accepted, and more wanted than I could ever fully understand.  (That's true of all of God's children!) I don't need more out of how I look, He has created me perfectly in his image. I don't need more recognition, because it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.  He is about more recognition for the God who created the universe! I don't need to be smarter. Knowledge puffs up. He has given me the mind of Christ, and has given me intellect to glorify himself. My husband and children are God's amazing gifts to me. They are primarily his. He will grow them, change them and equip me to love them, for his namesake! So today, instead of striving for more of the things I think I want or need, I am going to strive for more of Him. Because in him, I am blessed with evert spiritual blessing and so much more!

This week I loved reading the following links and think you will too!

I am loving this new blog I found a couple of weeks ago! This post brings back so much of how I felt during our adoption.  I just want to hug her!!!!!

Lark and Bloom

I am sure that most everyone has already read this one, but if not, I thought it was more than appropriate for this weekend!

 Holy Experience

And for all of The Momma's who have ever struggled with this (or with their children's sanctification)

Domestic Kingdom

I hope your weekend is full of rest, family, and time with the King who loves you more than you will ever know! Enjoy!!
