I am peacing out......

So I have a new blog, and I am leaving this one behind!  The new blog is going to be just like this one, only it is a self hosted Wordpress site instead of a Blogger site. For most of you that means very little, so here is what you do need to know:

My new site is This Life I Live

More and Some Weekend Reading

As God has been dealing with some pretty deep seeded issues in my heart, I am struck by how many of them stem from me wanting more. Not only that, I spend most of my time wanting what I want, not what he does. I want more out of how I look, more recognition, more intellect, more out of my husband, more out of my children, more out of my friends (or sometimes complete strangers), more out of God. But, as his child I have all that I need, and so much more! I am completely loved, 100% accepted, and more wanted than I could ever fully understand.  (That's true of all of God's children!) I don't need more out of how I look, He has created me perfectly in his image. I don't need more recognition, because it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.  He is about more recognition for the God who created the universe! I don't need to be smarter. Knowledge puffs up. He has given me the mind of Christ, and has given me intellect to glorify himself. My husband and children are God's amazing gifts to me. They are primarily his. He will grow them, change them and equip me to love them, for his namesake! So today, instead of striving for more of the things I think I want or need, I am going to strive for more of Him. Because in him, I am blessed with evert spiritual blessing and so much more!

This week I loved reading the following links and think you will too!

I am loving this new blog I found a couple of weeks ago! This post brings back so much of how I felt during our adoption.  I just want to hug her!!!!!

Lark and Bloom

I am sure that most everyone has already read this one, but if not, I thought it was more than appropriate for this weekend!

 Holy Experience

And for all of The Momma's who have ever struggled with this (or with their children's sanctification)

Domestic Kingdom

I hope your weekend is full of rest, family, and time with the King who loves you more than you will ever know! Enjoy!!

This is Just a Test

So, I just turned this blog into it's own little thing. Instead of it belonging to blogger it belongs to me!  It has been a little tricky, so I am running a little test!!! This is not a real post, I repeat, this is not a real post. It is just a test!  For my last two real posts click below!!!

Books, Blogs and Crepes

So first of all, I feel like everyone should know that I made homemade crepes this morning.  I know what you are thinking.... move over Martha Stewart!! That's right, this domestic diva made the crepes and  the cream filling.  It was pretty amazing if I don't say so myself.  So amazing, it may never happen again, cause' we all know that I am anything but a domestic diva!!!  But here's the proof!

Okay, moving on....

Here are some posts I read this week that I thought were worth passing on!

Killing the Soul of Children-Sally Clarkson

Dear Teachers Everywhere-Jen Hatmaker

Parents a Word About Instagram- Life as of Late

Also,  I recently finished a book entitled Anything by Jennie Allen. This was a great, easy read, that I would recommend to anyone!  It is the story of what happened in Jennie and her husbands lives when they prayed a simple little prayer,  "God we will do anything!".  Interestingly enough God did not ask them to sell everything and move to Africa!  If you want to know what He did ask, grab this book. It might inspire you to be bold in your prayers as well.

Right now....

I am reading two different books. I know, I am such a rebel, what can I say? The first is one I would recommend to EVERY believer!  It is called Instruments in the Redeemers Hand, by Paul David Tripp. This book is meant to encourage the body to counsel and support one another well. So far he has dug into how all behavior starts in the heart (duh!). He also goes through the process by which good things can quickly become idols that determine the pursuits in our lives.  I highly recommend this book. So go get it...now!

I am also reading Twelve Extraordinary Women by John MacArthur. I will admit, that this has been a little harder for me to dive into fully, but what I have read so far is really good!  MacArthur looks at the lives of Eve, Sara, Rahab, Ruth, Hannah, Mary, Anna, The Samaritan Woman, Martha and Mary, Mary Magdalene, and Lydia. I have been so intrigued by how God has used women all throughout history.  Reading about both the faith and failures of each of these ladies has been a great encouragement.

On a totally unrelated note.....

David Cook came out with a new song! It is kind of a different sound for him but I L-O-V-E it! He sang it live on American Idol Thursday, but no one watches that anymore, so here is the video!!!! It's called Laying me Low. Go buy it now!

We will be sitting up here tonight listening to Kenny Chesney and the Zac Brown Band live in concert! Hope your weekend is a great one!!!

This morning's goodness

I am compelled to share two things that will likely change your life....or at least your day!

The first is Jamestown Coffee's Milky Way latte.  As a self professing Starbucks addict, I am just as shocked as you are about the referral of a non-Starbucks coffee. Jamestown used to be near our old house, but I never really went there because the mother-ship (aka. Starbucks) was new in town, and I was supernaturally drawn to her! However, it is now on my way to work, and Starbucks is not! So I stopped in this morning and  tasted something that might be swaying me away from the big green machine! It was the Milky Way latte.  Mmmmhmmm.....I said Milky Way. I ordered mine iced, and it was absolutely delish!! Can we say white chocolate caramel coffee dream?!?!? Total life changer for sure....so go get one if you are near by! It is in the Cromers on Huger (which weirdly enough for those not from the area, is pronounced Hue-Gee).  Thank me later!

Click the picture to listen!
The second is this talk by Paige Benton Brown. I have shared it before and have listened to it 4-5 times.  This is by far the best talk I have every heard about living for the Kingdom of God.  I know that I am building that up pretty high, so please approach this with cautious expectations!  I am posting this again, because I just listened to it again this morning. It really is a game changer!!! So, please STOP whatever you are doing and listen to it! Clearly it is amazing or I wouldn't keep posting it.  It is worth the time, I promise. If you don't think so you can email me all about your thoughts on why it was not all I built it up to be. Go now and LISTEN!!!!

The Big Move...After the fact!

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about our quick move.  Well, it's been about two weeks and we are finally getting into the swing of things. Right now we are living in a beautiful two bedroom apartment in downtown Columbia. It still amazes me how God worked that out, but to say that we are thankful would be an understatement!  Part of me was ready to rough it in some gross place for a few months, because I believed that was how God was going to prepare me for our move.  My oh my how deep the lies I believe about my Father are!  He not only provided something free to us, but we are living in some designer digs.  The family who owns this place have been more than generous. They may never fully know how huge a blessing this has been to our family.

Until now, I had no idea how attached to my house I was. There is something really heavy about not having your own home.  At the same time there is something quite freeing about the very same thing.  My heart hurts to think that other people are living in our house, and that they may or may not be taking care of it the way we would. Almost all of our stuff has been given away or sold, and it only took 1 day to get gone (I know, my English skills are perfection, what can I say?)!

This process has been unlike any other I have experienced and has been such a reminder to me that this world is not our final home, it is only temporary.  My citizenship is in heaven, and I was made for an eternal glory that is far greater than any home I could make here on earth. It is also a reminder to me that home is wherever my family is.  The location is not what makes home, the people I share my location with are.

So, as we spend our last couple of months in this beautiful but temporary living situation, I can look back on this time as one where God provided far more than we could have ever imagined, and I can look forward to the day when I finally reach my eternal home.

Now, you didn't think I could write a post about a temporary home, without posting my absolute favorite Carrie Song....Temporary Home!
So, enjoy....it gets me all teary eyed every time I hear it!
